How walkable is your place (or that dream house you’ve been thinking of)?
When Sara and I look at getting a place, not needing a car for every little errand will be high on my list of wants.
Walk Score helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc. Check out how Walk Score doesn’t work. |
Your Walk Score is a number between 0 and 100. The walkability of an address depends on how far you are comfortable walking—after all, everything is within walking distance if you have the time. Here are general guidelines for interpreting your score: |
| 90 - 100 = Walkers’ Paradise: Most errands can be accomplished on foot and many people get by without owning a car. |
| 50 - 70 = Some Walkable Locations: |

Hey Eric-
Just posted on Twitter- @ericskiff Clipmarks’s clip-to-blog posts should feature a link to the original content source and a link to the users’ Clipmarks page.
Would love this feature and could increase your already insanely fast growing community.

Walk Score can be really helpful if you are going to buy a house but cant choose the best region. But i think that Drive Score can be rather useful as well. I ve come across this tool at drivescore.fizber.com With Drive Score, buyers can see how close establishments are by car. My score was 50. The greater number of businesses nearby, the higher the Drive Score.

Thanks for the article. That’s really cool.
And thanks to Chris for one more link. I’ve spent about an hour entering different home addresses and estimating their walkscore and Drivescore.
BTW the direct link is the following:
Drivescore
And there’s bikescore there too
